Does your online Drivers Education Course satisfy DHSMV requirements?
Yes. Our 4-hour TLSAE course is DHSMV-approved and meets all the requirements needed to obtain your Florida First-Time Learner's Permit.
What is the Parent-Teen Driving Skills Guide?
Parents/Guardians are required to supervise the 50 hours their teens need for behind-the-wheel training. Our DHSMV-approved Guide covers all the necessary driving skills your teen needs to know. In addition, the final page of the Guide is a form you will need to fill out and have notarized or be signed in the presence of a DHSMV examiner.
Am I taking the right course?
Florida Drivers Ed courses are known by many names; TLSAE, Drug and Alcohol Course, DATA, ADAPT, and First Time Drivers. But they're all the same. And our approved course satisfies all their requirements needed to apply for a Florida learners permit.
Do I have to take the course all at one time or can I spread it out over a couple of weeks?
That's the beauty of our online course. You are in complete control of when, where and how you study. Do a little or a lot per day. Skip a day or two and pick it up when you have the time. Do an hour here an hour there...our Florida Drivers Ed course is designed for maximum convenience.
How soon will I get my Certificate of Completion?
We immediately begin processing your Certificate of Completion after you successfully pass your final exam and if completed before 3pm PST, your Certificate of Completion will be processed for delivery that day.

ABOUT THE DHSMV ONLINE PERMIT EXAM
Is your Online Permit Exam approved by the DHSMV?
Yes it is. The DHSMV has approved us as both a dedicated provider of TLSAE (DATA, ADAPT) courses and online DHSMV Permit Exams.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The DHSMV required that you will need a parent or guardian to sign an affidavit at the driver license office verifying that you lawfully completed the exam online; if you are 18 or over, you will not be eligible to take the exam online. Click here to see the affidavit.
If I've already taken the Florida TLSAE (DATA, ADAPT) course, can I still sign up for the online DHSMV Permit Exam?
Yes, provided that you took your Florida TLSAE course through us. The State of Florida stipulates that any driver UNDER THE AGE OF 18 can qualify to take their DHSMV permit exam online IF they take it through the same online provider that they took their Drivers Ed (TLSAE, 4 Hour Drug and Alcohol Course, DATA, ADAPT) course.
What if I took the Florida TLSAE course from another provider?
Unfortunately, the DHSMV strictly forbids any student from taking an online drivers ed course from one provider then taking the online DHSMV Permit Exam from another. In other words, you must take both the Florida Drivers Ed and online DHSMV Permit Exam from the same provider.
Is there an age limit for taking the DHSMV online permit exam?
Yes, you must be under 18 in order to qualify.
What if I fail the DHSMV Online Exam?
You are allowed three attempts to pass your online DHSMV exam. Even after three attempts, if you still haven't passed the exam you must go to the DMV for further re-takes.
Is there a charge for retaking the DHSMV Online Exam?
Yes, the state requires a $21.95 fee each time you re-take the exam.
Is the DHSMV Florida Permit Exam very hard?
The Florida DHSMV written exam is designed to be a little tricky. They include questions where several answers seem to be correct. To ensure your success, we provide FREE 50-question practice test guide that uses actual questions taken from the DHSMV written exam.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
What are the minimum software requirements for your courses?
The course works with any standard browser like IE or Netscape. Other than the possibility of upgrading your Flash program, there is no requirement of any software installation.
What are the system requirements for taking the course online?
The course was developed so that any system with internet access can display the online course. If you are having difficulties displaying the course, contact our customer support group at 1-800-990-2814.
I use AOL and I keep getting knocked offline. What should I do?
If you are using AOL as your Internet service provider, you will have activity requirements while online. During some of the longer sections requiring more minutes online, there is a chance AOL will knock you offline unless you remain interactive with AOL. Do not leave the screen alone for any great length of time.
Can I do this program if I have WebTV?
Yes. Many students have successfully taken this course using WebTV.

GETTING STARTED
How do I apply for Learner's Permit?
To apply for your permit you must:
- Be at least 15 years old.
- Have successfully passed an approved Drivers Education course that a parent/guardian has supervised:
- A minimum of 50 hours behind the wheel training.
- Ten of those hours must be at night.
Will I have to take any tests to get my Learner's Permit?
You are required to take:
- A Written Test covering the following areas:
- Road Rules - 20 multiple-choice questions about traffic laws - must have 15 correct answers to pass.
- Road Signs - 20 multiple-choice questions about road signs - must have 15 correct answers to pass.
- A Vision Test. To pass, you must have 20/40 (or better) vision in each and both eyes, with or without corrective lenses.
- A Hearing Test.
Do I need my parent/guardians consent to get my Learner's Permit?
Yes. They will need to be present when you apply.
What restrictions will be placed on my Learner's Permit?
With your Learner's Permit, you may:
- Only drive during daylight hours during the first three months and until 10 p.m. Thereafter, always with a licensed driver who is at least 21 years old and occupies the front passenger seat.
How much will my Learner's Permit cost?
As the price changes from time to time, you'll need to check with the DHSMV for the exact price.

GETTING YOUR GRADUATED OPERATOR'S LICENSE
What are the prerequisites for getting my Graduated Operator's License?
To apply for your Graduated Operator's License, you must:
- Be at least 16 years old.
- Have held a learner's license for at least one year without any traffic convictions.
What tests will I be required to take?
You will be required to take Driving Test and perform certain driving maneuvers.
Do my parents/legal guardians need to be present?
Yes, a parent or legal guardian must sign your driver's license application with you as well as an affidavit that the applicant has completed at least 50 hours of on-the-road driving experience, including at least 10 hours of night driving, with a parent or guardian.
What other forms/documents will I need?
You must provide:
- A Florida Learner's License or a license from another jurisdiction.
- Parent or guardian certification that you have at least 50 hours of behind the wheel driving experience, of which 10 hours must be at night.
Are there any restrictions to having a Graduated Operator's License?
With your Graduated Operator's License, you may:
- 16 years old - only drive between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m., unless accompanied by a licensed driver who is at least 21 years old and occupies the front passenger seat, or you are traveling to or from work.
- 17 years old - only drive between 5 a.m. and 1 a.m., unless accompanied by a licensed driver who is at least 21 years old and occupies the front passenger seat, or you are traveling to or from work.

DRIVE SAFELY
Is it possible to lose your license? How?
Yes. If you have been cited for a DUI infraction, and/or have a major accident/traffic violation, your license may be revoked or taken way.
Is there a "Zero Tolerance" rule (Absolutely no alcohol) for teens?
If you are under 21 years of age:
- It is illegal to purchase beer, wine, or hard liquor.
- It is against law to carry an alcoholic beverage in your car unless your parent accompanies you.
- If you are convicted of a DUI, the court can seize your vehicle for up to six months. You will have to pay a storage fee to retain it. You may also have to spend time in jail and pay a fine. DHSMV must revoke your driver license for one year or until you are 18, whichever is longer. You must show proof of insurance, proof of completion for the educational component of a licensed DUI program, and pay a DHSMV reissue fee.
